About Us
At Social Care Academy, we are passionate about developing excellence in children's residential care through high-quality qualifications, specialist safeguarding training and flexible learner support.
With over 15 years of hands-on management and senior leadership experience within children’s residential settings, and over 12 years of expertise delivering vocational and apprenticeship qualifications, our team of tutors, assessors and internal quality assurers bring real-world knowledge into every course.
Our team has lived the sector from managing homes, leading teams, and shaping services to meet and exceed regulatory standards, and now we bring that frontline insight directly into your learning experience.
We specialise exclusively in children's residential care. Unlike some providers who also focus on adult care or wider health and social care sectors, we concentrate fully on the challenges, legislation, and best practices specific to children's homes.
This ensures our learners receive relatable, targeted support that genuinely reflects the environments they work in, helping to embed the skills and understanding required within children’s residential care and aligned with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Ofsted expectations.
Qualifications Designed for Children's Residential Care:
Level 2 Award in Safeguarding and Protecting Children in Residential Childcare – our specialist regulated safeguarding qualification, developed by Social Care Academy in partnership with Innovate Awarding for professionals at all levels of children's residential care.
Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare – for Residential Support Workers and those developing towards senior roles such as Senior Support Worker and Team Leader.
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare – for Deputy Managers, Registered Managers and those progressing into residential childcare leadership and management.
Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Leadership and Management – for experienced Registered Managers, Responsible Individuals, senior leaders and directors progressing into strategic and operational leadership.
Our Level 2 safeguarding qualification represents an important development for Social Care Academy and the wider residential childcare sector. Developed by Social Care Academy in partnership with Innovate Awarding, it provides a regulated alternative to traditional safeguarding workshops and CPD courses, combining face-to-face learning with professional discussion assessment and covering safeguarding from initial concerns through to allegations, referrals, investigations and organisational responsibilities.
At Social Care Training Academy, we pride ourselves on being flexible and working together closely with organisations and managers to ensure learners complete their qualifications in line with both company requirements and the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
We understand the demands of shift work, regulations, inspections, staffing pressures, and children's complex needs - so we adapt learning plans where necessary to suit individual and service needs without compromising quality.
Whether you're an individual advancing your career or an organisation investing in your team, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
Learner Support, Tracking and Progress Monitoring:
We are committed to maintaining excellent tracking and monitoring of every learner's journey.
We offer a quick turnaround on assessments, with assessors providing detailed feedback promptly after submissions.
Each learner also receives monthly support calls from their assessor to discuss progress, address any challenges, and keep motivation high.
For managers and organisations, a unique dashboard provides full visibility of learner progress, showing real-time updates on unit completion, assessments in progress, and a clear summary of all communications made with the learner.
This ensures managers no longer need to chase for updates - all information is readily available whenever needed, helping organisations stay compliant with both internal training requirements and external regulatory expectations. However, should you still need to contact us directly about a learner’s progress, our team remains on hand to support you.
